Kemptthal, 2 August 2021 - Planted records 3 tonnes of surplus "planted.chicken Sesame 2kg". So that the chicken from plants does not have to be thrown away, the Swiss food producer is carrying out a rescue operation with Too Good To Go.

Food rescue and planted.chicken sesame tasting

On Saturday, 14 August 2021, users of the Too Good To Go app will be able to buy 2 kg packs of planted.chicken Sesame for CHF 11.90 (instead of CHF 79.50) at Planted headquarters in Kemptthal.

This is how consumers get in on the action: Download the Too Good To Go app free of charge from the App Store or Google Play, open it and register once, enter the term "planted" in the search bar under the "Browse" tab, reserve and pay for the offer between Monday, 2 August 2021 and Friday, 13 August 2021 and pick it up in Kemptthal ZH on 14 August 2021 (10 am to 5 pm). PS.Important: If you can't find Planted on the Too Good To Go app, change your location to "Lindau"."

Anyone who buys a portion of planted.chicken Sesame via the Too Good To Go app will enjoy a product that is not available in the retail trade and in the Planted webshop. In addition, every bite counts twice: thanks to the rescue campaign, all the environmental resources used for the production of planted.chicken are not unnecessarily wasted. In addition, those who consume plant-based chicken instead of animal-based chicken save animal lives and do good for the environment, because 74% less greenhouse gases are produced in the production process than with animal-based chicken. The best-before date of the product, without interrupting the cold chain, is 30 September 2021.

"The temporary closure of catering establishments and home office obligations in Switzerland made it difficult for us to sell the entire quantity of planted.chicken Sesame produced exclusively for canteens and the catering industry," explains Tilo Hubmann, Head of Sales Switzerland at Planted. He adds: "With Too Good To Go, we have found a friendly and quick solution so that the leftover planted.chicken Sesame ends up on the plate instead of in the waste and at the same time consumers can enjoy a delicious meat from plants, which consists of 100% natural ingredients. »

The issue of food waste is more topical than ever

More than a third of all food produced is wasted. This contributes significantly to the climate crisis: According to the FAO, food waste is responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gases. This is because numerous resources are used on the way from the field to the plate - for transport, processing or cooling, for example.

"We see the fight against food waste as one of the most effective solutions against climate change," says Alina Swirski, Country Manager of Too Good To Go Switzerland. "That's why we want to inspire and empower everyone to join us in the fight against food waste."

Too Good To Go is fighting its battle in Switzerland together with more than 4,600 partner businesses, almost 1.4 million registered users on the app and various initiatives to raise awareness of the issue - and in some cases with rescue operations like these. Since the launch of Too Good To Go Switzerland, around 8,000 tonnes of CO₂e have been saved with the more than 3.2 million meals saved. This corresponds to the same amount of CO₂e as caused by about 1,600 flights around the world or almost 50 years of hot showers.
