Foodtech start-up Planted launches vegetable barbecue skewers on the market
Kemptthal, Switzerland, 22 June 2022 - With the return of warm temperatures, the smell of grilled food is in the air again. Just in time for the start of this year's barbecue season, Planted is launching an innovation on the market: With the new planted.chicken barbecue skewers, the classic barbecue skewer is now available in a plant-based version - for all those who want to reduce their meat consumption at the BBQ, but do not want to forego taste.
Ready marinated kebabs: Straight from the packet onto the grill and ready in just 2-3 minutes.
Planted stands for transparency, so the newplanted.chicken barbecue skewers also consist of only four natural ingredients: Water, pea protein, pea fibre and rapeseed oil. They also have sufficient vitamin B12 and a high protein content. Like the other products from Planted , the planted chicken skewers contain no flavourings or preservatives, other additives, soya, gluten or lactose. To ensure that the skewers are particularly juicy when grilled, they can simply be placed directly from the pack on the grill for a maximum of two to three minutes and the plant-based barbecue menu is ready.A lemon and herb marinade, which harmonises perfectly with the smoky aroma of the barbecue, provides the typical BBQ taste: Refreshing lemon juice combined with oregano and rosemary gives the kebabs a delicious spiciness, while chilli and paprika go perfectly with vegetable proteins and refine their flavours.
Meat from plants: Unique fibre structure for perfect grilling pleasure
Planted makes the planted.chicken barbecue skewers from alternative proteins and focuses on the perfect bite. Inspired by nature, the company is pioneering a new biostructuring approach. "Juicy, tender meat combined with a herb marinade makes the summer barbecue experience unique. From now on, this is also possible with our meat made from plants," says Judith Wemmer, responsible for product development at Planted, and adds: "Thanks to our innovative production process, we can simply skip the animal and instead convert peas directly into fibrous meat. This way we can reduce CO2e emissions by 74%, but still enjoy the barbecue at home or in the park.
Following the success of the existing products planted.chicken,planted.schnitzel, planted.pulled and planted.kebab, the newplanted.chicken grill skewers are the perfect addition to thePlanted product range.
Switzerland-wide "Taste will Save us" BBQ campaign
To increase our positive impact on the planet, everyone needs to pull together, and the way to address everyone is to produce the best tasting food. The only way to avoid animal meat is to create an alternative to eating it - and the delicious taste of Planted offers just that. Taste becomes the brand's North Star - "Tastewill Save us". The first campaign under this new brand platform is all about the, traditionally very meaty, summer barbecue. The campaign was launched nationally in Switzerland this week on digital channels such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. In addition, a mega-poster at Basel train station as well as poster placements and hanging boxes in trams are attracting attention and inspiring the next barbecue.
